The weather was rainy all day but that didn’t dampen any hopes of a Woodsmen victory as they dealt the Dogs a convincing 34-10 loss. The first half saw the Woodsmen cruise to a 22 – 0 halftime score and they never looked back. In the second half, the Dogs capitalized on a penalty for 3 points and with no time left managed to squeak in a converted try. Woodsmen 10 Rochester 6 On Sunday April 12, the Woodsmen faced off
against the Rochester Aardvarks in match that would determine who advances to
the Midwest final four. The field conditions were very wet. Constant rain the
day before insured a wet / muddy game for this day. The first 10 minutes saw each team feeling
each other out when the Aardvarks capitalized on a Woodsmen penalty and went
up 0 – 3. At about 25 minutes in, the Woodsmen answered with an unconverted
try to put the score at 5 – 3. Later in the half the Aardvarks put up
another three points and the half ended with them up 5 – 6. With the field being a complete mud pit, the Woodsmen came into the second half with some injury subs and held tight. Another try put us up 10 – 6 and the rest is history. A dominating performance by the forwards and a solid game by the backs insured a spot in the Midwest Final Four. We will be playing our local rivals the South Side Irish on April 27th @ 10am in Lemont. Trys: Dave Klawitter and Chris Pinta B-Side Summary No B-Side Matches, but a huge part of the Woodsmen Play-Off Victories!
